#50 HUD Display Timing IssueInvestigating

Reported: November 2024 v1.6

Description: When the HUD is enabled to display characters during training, it shows the last character of each word too early - displaying immediately after the first dit or dah instead of after the complete character is played. This is more noticeable at slower speeds and can lead to unintentional "cheating" on the final character.

Workaround: Disable the HUD feature during training, or be aware of the early display on final characters.

#51 QSO Answer MismatchInvestigating

Reported: February 2024 v1.6

Description: During QSO training mode, the answers displayed in the results do not match the QSO conversation that was just sent.

Impact: Makes it difficult to verify QSO training accuracy.

#52 Last Character Not DisplayingInvestigating

Reported: July 2023 v1.6

Description: During a 1-minute training session using all alphabet characters, the last character played is not showing in the results.

#55 Settings UI Text Overlap on Older DevicesInvestigating

Reported: Multiple users (January 2023 - September 2024) v1.6, v1.6.2

Affected Devices: iPhone X and older models

Description: Text overlaps on various Settings screens when reading or entering parameters. The Farnsworth setting screen is particularly affected, with UI elements overlapping and making configuration difficult. This appears to be a layout issue specific to older iPhone screen sizes.

Priority: High - affects usability for users with older devices

#58 Custom Set Plays Only First CharacterInvestigating

Reported: February 2024 v1.6.2

Description: When entering a custom character set (e.g., "PSG"), the app only displays and plays the first character entered repeatedly with no opportunity to interact. The training session becomes stuck on the first character.

Impact: Custom character sets are unusable for affected users.

#59 Unable to Edit Punctuation CharactersInvestigating

Reported: June 2024 v1.6.2

Description: Users cannot edit or select specific punctuation characters for training. Special characters can be edited without problems, but punctuation character selection is not working.

#56 Mac OS SupportPlanned

Request: Build a version of Morse Elmer to run on Mac OS.

Status: Under consideration for future development.

#57 Additional Fixed Word Length OptionsUnder Review

Reported: July 2023

Request: Add fixed word length options of 1 and 2 characters in addition to the existing 3, 5, 7, and random options.

Rationale: Research suggests that vocalizing characters within a very short time of hearing them creates better neural connections. Shorter word lengths (especially single characters) make this easier, particularly when learning at slower speeds.

Current Options: 3, 5, 7, Random

Requested: Add 1 and 2 character fixed lengths

#54 Additional Documentation FormatsPlanned

Request: Provide documentation in PDF format and as a standalone desktop website.

Status: Planned for future releases. The documentation system has been updated to MkDocs which can generate multiple output formats from the same source.

#53 Documentation Search CapabilityPlanned

Request: Add search capability to documentation.

Status: The documentation has been rebuilt using MkDocs with the Material theme (v1.7.0), which supports search functionality. However, search is currently disabled in the published version. This feature is planned for a future release once technical issues are resolved.
